Dylan the lizard has died. The children are upset. I am a mean mom because the hot sun was just too much (remember my outside rule). Lindsey is a bit of a drama queen and has posted this on her blog. It made me smile. It a private blog but this just made me laugh (after I paid my respects of course).
From Lindsey's blog...
Dylan died 6/21/08. He fell in love June 18th 2008. With a lizard named Sarah. after 3 days of marriage he died in the hot sun. On Monday his funeral will be held in the Reese Home. His viewing will not happen unless someone will pick him up.Invitations go to Reese family,Emily and her family, and Kara and if she wants to bring Ashley.Leave comments on my post for a response to come.
There are also hand made funeral programs for all who attend with a hand drawn portrait of Dylan, listed pall bearers, prayers, talks, and where to bring the flowers.
I have a feeling this is not the only lizard I will own...

We saw the obituary on Lindsey's blog first. It was so cute, I couldn't help not laughing. I know that Dylan was loved by your kids and that he will be missed. Emily is planning on attending the funeral maybe I will join her.
♡ That so very sweet! I thought lizards liked the hot sun? I hope that the funeral goes well and is well attended! :)
That is one creative kid you have! I am sorry the lizard is no longer and that your kids are so upset by this.
Good luck with the funeral
You do know how adorably brilliant that is, don't you? My goodness!!
So sweet. Poor Sarah. Will she ever recover from the loss of her husband?
You'll most certainly own another lizard. After ours died (don't tell Lindsey, but we didn't have a funeral) we got another one before I could blink.
How many pall bearers does a lizard have?
Good question since (as mentioned) no one will actually pick him up. Hmmm...
This is hilarious!! What a smart girl you have!:)
HA! what a sweetie! how nice that she went the extra mile to celebrate Dylan's life! stinking CUTE!
perfect time for a circle of life lesson. we learn alot from those at our house. i am so callus about pets kicking the bucket. but my kids learn alot from it!
Oh this has me LAUGHING!!! She is PRECIOUS!!!!
I am sorry your kids lost their pet. I hope the funeral goes well and someone will get to be pallbearer. DId they pick him up when he was alive?
Please send my condolences. Lizard, fish, cat, dog - losing a pet is terrible.
On a happier note, I love your new blog look!
That is the most well written funeral announcement I have ever read. What a smart and clever girl. I am so sorry about the passing of poor Dylan. It certainly ignited Lindsey's imagination though.
I love the new look of your blog! I have been trying to figure out how to create a new blog header for my blog.
How do you create your blog header?
Thanks!
i had a pretty elaborate funeral for a lizard when i was in jr high. i had him for over a year, and was devistated when he died. what a great obituary lindsey did!
So sweet! I love what kids come up with on their own!
LOL...they think of the funniest things!
I have to agree with everybody, what a clever and creative post by Lindsey! And I think you may be right, should they find another lizard, it's coming home with you!
That is classic! I love that Lindsey and Laura have blogs of their own. A great way for them to do their own personal history!
Uh oh! I look forward to hearing an update to find out if anyone was brave enough to pick Dylan up so a viewing could be held...I love Lindsely's creativity!
So creative. This is definately a writing sample to treasure. She'll laugh at it when she's older! (Great scrapbook page :) )
Poor Dylan.....wish I couldn't have attended the burial of such a great family "friend". :)
I think this is just the beginning of pets in your household. ;)
Wow she is cute. This is fun to see what you guys are up to and what your kids are like. I am glad we can keep in touch through blogs.
Sorry I haven't made more comments lately. I'm disappointed I missed the 300th post contest. I loved your lizard stories. Take care!
This was the sweetest thing I have ever read! What a creative & expressive young lady you have raised.
Poor kids! Has she been to a funeral or two.. to have gotten the whole thing outlined and made up! WOW.
This lizard saga has had me laughing and laughing. Unbelievable! Sorry the lizard didn't make it after all that. Lindsey's blog post is too cute.
