Summer break...

Lot's of running around. Lot's of mess and no down time.

Be back soon with all my posts just waiting for that elusive downtime.

Until then run out and see 500 days of summer. I absolutely loved it. I even want to go again :) Great movie. Funny, well written, and nostalgic.

Where is summer?

If you are experiencing summer please tell it to come my way. It rained again today all day. It was also cold. Like jeans and sweatshirt cold. It's June not October. It's normally very very hot, often unbearably hot. It actually rained this whole week. Swim lessons were canceled. To be fair we did get one beautiful and somewhat warm day on Friday. Unfortunately Lindsey woke up feverish and the twins were dealing with a serious cough. So we stayed home again anyway.

This week I went to bmx, it was cold and raining off and on (surprise surprise). It was a perfect night though. My little guy almost made my heart burst. I could tell he was trying so hard, because I was there and he wanted to show me his stuff.

I am going a little nuts. I have to give a shout out to a few things...

*Disney Channel rocks. Kid friendly and mom approved viewing all day and all night. I hate to admit how much we need this with the weather.

*Arthur is also our favorite kids show. I actually enjoy it too. The other day when all the kids were gone I accidentally turned it on (out of habit on tivo).

*My new finished (mostly empty) playroom. I have had to stash my kids down there a few times to play lately.

*Wii and especially wii fit. It's quite entertaining watching my kids run around in place (its a hard fast rule that you play the games properly or no more wii fit).

*Another shout out to netflix. I am officially converted. It's fast. It's cheap. I love catching up on new tv series or old I have missed. I am almost done with Friday night lights. Does anyone have any favs they want to share? I am in need.

*Book 3. Mortal instruments series- City of glass. I highly recommend this series.

My job has certainly increased as summer rolled in. Four loaves of bread disappeared this week. We went through an entire costco box of Graham crackers in just three days. YIKES. Have I mentioned lately how much I hate grocery shopping?

Another favorite discovery Chex mix bars- turtle. Candy bar good- less calories.

On a good note. I did actually catch up all the laundry. All my bathrooms are clean. So staying home and not playing has its benefits I suppose.

Oh and girls night saves my sanity most in the summer. I am desperate for a kid free break more than ever.

The day there was sun...

Started with repaving of our road. If you wanted to drive your car that day you had to get your car out by 7am. I opted out on that one. Who needs to drive when one can walk with four kids, right? It was also the only day we sun actual sunshine last week. My house needed a lot of attention anyway so we spent it cleaning and doing chores...
You see that 25 mile an hour speed limit sign? Yeah apparently its invisible to all. No one ever seems to follow it, even with my four little children on the side walk.

The twins room was a hazard. Even they were complaining. It took most of my day. I could do seperate post about their room. How I clean it, how they wake up before the sun and destroy it. How I clean it again and then they destroy it. Then I go on strike and won't clean it. Then it gets like this. We are all unhappy. I give in and clean it. Then Hailey always declares that she will never ever let it get messy like that again. Until the next morning before the sun, it does. It's just so fun to empty all the drawers, and toys and things. EVERY SINGLE DAY!

The kids have chore lists this summer. I declare its more work than ever for me. But its for the good, its for the good, right? I did manage to entertain the twins with vacuuming the baseboards for the better part of an hour. Which made the house stay picked up for one hour longer that day.
This is the lunch you might have if you are out of food. Can't go to the grocery store because the thought of going with kids is very scary. Don't worry I went on Monday. Oh and Egg Salad is delicious to my kids so it was a real treat. While making lunch I received a phone call I was waiting four yrs for, My sister in law, had a clean scan and was declared officially Cancer free. I cried tears of joy in all the egg salad.

I was so tired by days end. Which is beginning to be the norm of all my summer days. Alan came home and declared he wanted to do something fun. So I sent Jacob along with him golfing. Apparently driving a golf cart and helping your Dad golf is like going to heaven.

When summer began Alan declared to the kids "no more bed times". After spending just one day home with the kids, with not one single break for myself, I quickly put my foot down on that one. Bed times were negotiated in my contract.

For the love of bugs....

Looks like she is drinking something wonderful....

Don't be fooled...

The love of bugs and "roly polies" has taken over they're every thought.

and to them it is wonderful.

The sun has opened up a whole new world for you both this spring. The pull to go outside is almost obsessive. Keeping you in the back yard has become a new challenge. I often find you sneaking outside without permission. It makes me uneasy. Two people always waiting for me to let my guard down so you can escape.

Happy Memorial Day......

My blog has been feeling neglected. School is coming to a close. Life is busy. We had a great weekend get away to Zion's National park. Pictures and adventures to follow.

Today we spent the day at the pool. My kids splashed and swam till they couldn't move. I sat in the sun and then the shade reading (or should I say devouring) a new book... I haven't finished it yet but so far I love City of bones.

We are home for a quick shower and off to a bbq. It's been a nice day. Not too hot and plenty of Sun.

I'll be back soon. I promise!

Photostory Friday- The afternoon conk out...

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I mentioned before how busy we have been this summer. We tend to go go go and then come home for the twins to nap. Quite often lately I will stumble upon Lindsey or Jacob
conked out too. Just too much fun and summer I guess. Last night he was sent to time out and I found him sound asleep he stayed asleep all night. POOR.TIRED.BOY

Water Entries...

We Swim a lot (thus the green hair issue). At the beginning of the summer the twins were not sure they even wanted to float with the floaties without mommy or daddy hanging on. As you can see thats a thing of the past. They are all over the pool and love to put their faces under water. Jacob and Lindsey are doing so well we are looking into swim team. Lindsey's biggest fear was diving. Something about going in head first sent her into a panic. I am so proud to say she seems to have overcome that fear! We are so lucky because Grandma and Grandpa have a pool.

Thursday's Thirteen

Thirteen reasons why our summer has been anything but lazy.
1-Swim lessons and free swimming from 10am-1:30pm.

2-Water parks

3-Arts in the park. A program my bigger kids go two twice a week from 10-12pm. It's actually very nice.
4-Jet Skiing with twins? Enough said?

5-Church meetings and activities to plan and hold.
6-Four kids home ALL.THE.TIME.
7-Fitting in the gym, girls nights, and hospital volunteering.
8-Later bedtimes and early risers.
9-More places to go as a family (Park City)
10-Pool towels to wash, swimsuits to wash, two outfits per child almost everyday.
11-Green hair. Any tips? Baths needed every single night (not always given).
12-Summer Movies
13- House that needs cleaning (desperately) even though we never seem to be home.

I just need a day to just be home with deadlines gone.

Virtual reality...

So summer's here and the kids are busy fighting playing. Their latest fights are always about virtual games. Yesterday it was Lindsey decorating Jacob's Build a Bear room black with pink hearts. Totally rad for her but Jacob was NOT happy. The other day Jacob had a friend over (who shall remain nameless). This kid was totally going nuts to use my computer and saying nuts puts it mildly. I was being threatened by a 6 yr old because his webkinz pet needed care. Seriously?

So I set limits. My kids are in love with...
Webkinz
Pirates online
and Build a bear world.

The perfect day...

Sorry for my absence. Last week was a whirlwind. We had activities everyday and every night. By the end of last week I felt like I was running a race with no break. I hope the rest of summer can slow down a bit. With all the kids at home I do doubt that.

Saturday we spent the day at the lake. This at the end of my week felt a little stressful because all I wanted was a day to do nothing. I guess I got what I asked for (without knowing it). The lake was relaxing and fun (we left the twins home with grandma and grandpa). At one point I was riding the jet ski (alone) with the wind racing by and I felt amazing. All the stresses of laundry, fighting children, and non stop activities were gone. I felt like me.

Jacob spent hours at the shore. This child amazes me by his ability to entertain himself with almost anything. It's really wonderful. Jacob was my jet ski pal and rode with only me. I enjoyed watching him learn to enjoy fast speeds and totally trust me. It was a bonding thing. His hair was so cool, as he rode in the wind his blond hair just stood straight up.

The kids just loved playing at the shore (cousins Cali, Jacob and Andrew).

Ignore my whiteness. I am all about sunscreen and wrinkle prevention.

Thursday's Thirteen...

1-It's 63 in my house right now. Brrr.
2-It's pouring rain and cold and we need new rain gutters bad.
3-Schools out for summer. Day 1( it does not feel a bit like summer).
4-Jacob tried to pay me a dollar to skip his daily reading this summer. Ha ha.
5-I drew a 50% off everything coupon (including sale) at the Gymboree peel a prize sale! There is like 3 given out the whole day. I am plotting how to use that.
6-Girls night out last night. Dinner and the home show.
7-Beef strogonauf for dinner tonight. Thanks to Angie and this recipe. Yummy.
8-Cleaning and laundry all day today.
9-Apparently doing my own hair and three little girls hair is not enough. The twins demand the ponies have hair do's too.
10- A confession... all you private bloggers need to know I love you. I just cannot use bloglines to read and be notified of a new post. That makes it impossible for me to keep up the way I want to. Please know its not on purpose. I will get to you I promise.
11-Alan is almost always home by 5pm now. It's amazing. He used to get home at 7:30.
12-Staying up way to late reading my book and writing this.
13-Gas was $3.98 a gallon at my fill up today. OUCH!

There you have it thirteen totally random things...
