Freeze your butt off....

This weekend we enjoyed freezing our butts off at soccer (and I do mean freezing). Soccer starts in March around here but its been such a cold wet spring 3 out of 5 games have been canceled. Today we should have been wearing down parka's but I didn't actually feel how cold it was when we left so we were miserable

Anytime your kid is in the goal box I notice all the Dad's stay close.

I know I have said it before but weekends feel brutal. Everyone is home. The house is a disaster and routines and schedules don't exist. Sometimes I can't wait for Mondays to recover.

Picture quest...

You may have noticed I have a tendency to take a lot of pictures. It's a disease almost. I can't stand to let a moment go unrecorded. Especially the ones that look so crisp and nice on film. Snowboarding and skiing are no exception. So last weekend I dragged the girls up the ski slopes.
Mistake #1 the girls were not in snow clothing.
Mistake #2 Underestimating the crowds.
Mistake #3 No picture is worth all that...

Upon my arrival (it's not a short drive). I found that there was absolutely no parking. I mean NONE. After driving around for the better part of an hour. I finally made myself a little parking spot. It seemed to work.

Then I unloaded the girls and we headed up to find Alan and Jacob who were already there. I immediately saw Jacob coming down the mountain. All smiles. Snap Snap snap. Then behind me I see Sydney trip and fall and get her hands in the snow. This began a crying fit that lasted the rest of my visit. She was cold. She was miserable. It was not worth it.

After I got my pictures... we headed over the lodge for some food and warmth. Really most of skiing or snowing boarding is, all so you can spend a little time in the lodge. At least if you have kids in tow right? Today, not possible. Packed to the rim that lodge, all levels, all tables. People everywhere. We give up. They hit the slopes. I pack up the little girls, Hailey is now crying too because she wants to ski/snowboard the slopes. I was SO happy to get to the car, where Sydney promptly told me (still wet with tears), "That was the greatest place ever, when are we going back"?

Ummm I got my pictures. Not any time soon..............

Here is a few of my spoils...

Wordy Wednesday- Making the team

In the beginning of September Lindsey tried out for the local pre-comp swim team. She was thrilled to learn she made it on the team. It's a big time commitment because they practice three times a week. Lindsey has amazed me with her willingness to go to practice and swim laps for an hour straight. It's great to find an activity that she is good at and enjoys.

Here is what she wrote about on her blog...
Have you ever heard about the Dimple Dell Devil Rays or The Dimple Dell Dolphins? I am on one of them! The Dimple Dell Dolphins! We are in 6th Place in the whole country! I love being on the team with my cousin Andrew! (check the blog Our Family Chaos.)We love it, it keeps me fit and I am happy too!

It makes me so happy to see her feeling good about herself through success.

Comments:You ask... I'll answer...

I'm crazy grumpy today. I think its because everything and I do mean everything is a mess and I am just plain overwhelmed. Still dealing with my cold.

I love comments.
A BIG shout out to all of you and especially Erin who made me feel so good with her comments. Thank you.

So I thought I would update and answer a few questions from my hair do post.

First the sunflower dresses and jean coats are all from Baby Gap. Unfortunately that place sells out of all their cute stuff right away so the dresses will be hard to find. I think the coats will still be hanging around. If you have younger girls than me I will be reselling them next year. You know how that goes...

How do I get my girls to sit still to get their hair done? My girls are trained to get their hair done. They just know it has to be done. We do it everyday when they get dressed so it has become a habit. Just like other habits. I recommend lots of water in a good spray bottle and good elastics that do not slide out. Praise goes a long way. My girls think they look more beautiful with pretty hair so thats a motivator there too. They look crazy when I do not have their hair done.

As for getting them all ready for church and their hair done. I never thought about that as being unusual and as usual you all made me feel pretty cool with your praise. We have church at 11am so that helps a lot.

Today has been a soccer day. Alan did some jack hammering in the basement last night (for the plumbing). Can you imagine how loud that was? I am just trying to get my head above water. I keep saying to myself, "Just keep swimming just keep swimming". You get the idea.
