Diving at the Mayan

Around here there is a restaurant that is well known for its diving shows. The diving shows are awesome! The restaurant opened a long time ago and used to have lines out the door.  It’s decorated everywhere with theme like stuff and ever since it opened I am sure it been every kids dream to get inside the pool.  A couple weeks ago… Jacob’s diving instructor told the class he had arranged for them to do some diving there. He works there. We went a little early to see his show- here he is in costume and character.

We got a little something to eat first as they couldn’t get in till the restaurant was closed and all patrons had left (they wouldn’t leave either)…

Finally it was time.  First they had a previous student do some stuff for us. He currently works for cirque de soile and travels all over the world.

Then Jacob’s group got in.  They got to see all the passageways the divers use on the cliffs and under the water.  Don’t worry they didn’t dive from the top.

It was really a chance of a lifetime.  Jacob was so thrilled!

All dressed up….

A few years ago a tradition was started to dress up for dessert at a fancy restaurant in the area.  The restaurant is  up a lane that is snow covered and decorated with beautiful lights for Christmas.

This year we had a lot to celebrate. We have Jan back with us and she is recovering.  It makes me cry to even remember those dark times.

So this year this family had a lot to celebrate. We all went through so much together this summer, even the kids.  Having Jan back with us decorating for the holidays and going to the traditions seemed impossible in September.  It wasn’t lost on me when we decorated the tree and wrapped gifts together that we almost didn’t have here to do this.  Jan is doing so much better. It’s a lot to recover from and she is doing it day by day!

Rivalry weekend…

Around here there is one weekend at all year that all Byu and Utah fans look forward to.  It’s the BYU V Utah game.  This year we had tickets.  I gave up my ticket because I am not a big enough football fan to sit out in the cold in November.

Anyway the boys went to the game.  It was a little tight as we had to go see Santa right before the game.

Jacob’s hair was glowing blue! I guess the paint and his light hair really mixed well.

It was such a nail biter all fans had a lot to enjoy. In the end BYU pulled off the win!I know this was a great thing for Jacob :) GO BYU!

Here comes Santa Claus…

Every year we head over to see Santa the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I found the jolly man at this quaint house when the twins were just babies and we have been going ever since.  Every year there are a lot of tears and worry over seeing him…. this year both girls were confident that they could handle seeing him and wouldn’t be scared at all.  However, when he did make his appearance Sydney’s shyness got the best of her and she began to cry.  I held her hand and helped her go over and talk to him because she really wanted to be able to do it.  She wiped her tears and made it through just fine.

All the cousins together…

Jacob brought his list.  He asked for  a air hog switch blade and nerf elite for the wii.  It was so cute!

So we made it through our first picture with Santa without tears.  That’s not to say it wasn’t hard for Sydney.  There were several other encounters with Santa this Christmas season for Sydney and she wasn’t keen on meeting him again.   I felt she had done her duty and never made her talk to him again. Hailey, however, overcame her fear entirely and every time we went to the mall she wanted to go to talk to him. Much to Sydney’s dismay.    Hailey even told me “I must be all grown up because I am not afraid of men anymore”.

As their preschool program approached I noticed Sydney’s speaking part referred to Santa so I asked if he was making a surprise appearance and was told yes. I warned Sydney.   The night before the program she prayed “ Please bless I can be in the room with Santa and not be too scared”.

I can’t say I blame her meeting strange men can’t be easy even if you so want to ask for a special toy!  Hailey asked for dress ups and Sydney asked for Littlest Pet shop.

December overload.....

This month has been insanely busy! I haven't had time to read, post or even sit down (except when I was wrapping presents). We had a busy and wonderful month and I have ton of posts coming your way to share... but until then I wanted to send two Christmas gifts to you.

Tips....

Urban Decay Eye primer potion
Life changing for me. You put this miracle stuff on before your eye make up and it sets it for the whole day! No more creases or movement. It looks great all day! This is the best make up product I have discovered in a long long time! Worth every single penny!

Blogtoprint.com

I have long wanted to put my blog to book form. So I started up the process several times only to be discouraged by the lengthy process. This website made my blog into several books in like 5 min or less. AMAZING! I haven't ordered yet but I absolutely plan too! I highly recommend it!

So there you have it my small and meager Christmas gifts to you!

I'll be back soon. Jan 4th is when school is back in session.

Got swined?

Last year my husband came down with the flu. A real flu. Sick in bed with high fever, body aches, and cough. It went on for what seemed like forever. In reality it was a full week out of work. Sick in bed the whole time. When he did get better it was short lived and he soon became even sicker than before. After some checking it was determined he had pnemonia. He was put on heavy antibiotics. He still didn't improve. More shots. More doctors. Double pnemonia diagnosis. Finally some improvement. Three weeks of serious illness, near hospitalization. It was horrible.
Last June Jacob got the flu. Sick in bed with a high fever for 7 full days, then a sinus infection. 2 full weeks in bed.

This fall when Swine flu shots were available I was determined to get them. Those of you who have a asthma in the family understand how much worse the flu can be for those who have it.

So I got up at 5am and got in line to get us our shots...Isn't it funny when you get up that early in the dark and think no one will be doing this, no one else is as crazy as me. Then you get there and its packed beyond your expectations? It was a crazy turn out and thousands came. They cut the line off right after us sending thousands more home. 3 hours in line and it was almost our turn. I hurried and called Alan to have him bring the twins (there was no reason to have them wait in the cold). Pretty soon he calls me to tell me my tire is flat. I had to call a good friend to rescue us. There are not many friends you feel comfortable calling before 9am on a Saturday like that. She came through and the twins received their swine flu shots along with the rest of us.

Here was just part of the line.

It was almost as hard getting the booster required 28 days later for the little kids. But it got done. We were all swined.

Some pretty happy shot victims wouldn't you say?

We all were grateful that Alan’s Mom is making a full recovery and is still with us. This year we got to invite Alan’s brother and his family to my Mom’s (Jan wasn't up to dinner or a crowd).  My kids really loved having their cousins at their other Grandparents and having Lisa around was great because she makes the best homemade rolls and is already like a part of my family from our girls nights and other excursions.  It was a lot of work but it all turned out perfect!

Later that night we had the luck and good fortune to take Jan out to a movie.

11 26 09_1631_edited-1

and because were crazy  after the movie we took Jan home and headed out to midnight madness at the outlets.  Upon arriving to the outlets I could not get my seatbelt unbuckled. After wrestling with it for a while my sister (the owner of the car) suggested we cut the seat belt. Luckily even at midnight Holly (my other sister) operates on full brain power and suggested I loosen the belt and slide out, which worked. What was even funnier was Holly later finding a way to slide into the belt.  Not sure how she managed that!

I was too busy getting my deals and didn’t take any pictures except this one at 3:30am. I noticed Holly had been standing in the same spot with her red shoes for an hour trying to decide on buying them (while we kept trying the same sweaters in different colors).  At that hour, you do weird things.

11 27 09_1623_edited-1

We all had a blast. Stuck to our budgets and got some great deals. It was more fun than anything. The deal of the night was a $70 watch I got for $20 at Tommy Hilfiger :)

I was tired the next day, but it was worth it.  Later my sisters husband simply clicked a missing piece on the seatbelt that had fallen in when the seat was folded down.  That’s it and the seatbelt unbuckled. I guess at that hour the four of us cannot be blamed for not knowing what to do.
