Dylan the lizard has died. The children are upset. I am a mean mom because the hot sun was just too much (remember my outside rule). Lindsey is a bit of a drama queen and has posted this on her blog. It made me smile. It a private blog but this just made me laugh (after I paid my respects of course).
From Lindsey's blog...
Dylan died 6/21/08. He fell in love June 18th 2008. With a lizard named Sarah. after 3 days of marriage he died in the hot sun. On Monday his funeral will be held in the Reese Home. His viewing will not happen unless someone will pick him up.Invitations go to Reese family,Emily and her family, and Kara and if she wants to bring Ashley.Leave comments on my post for a response to come.
There are also hand made funeral programs for all who attend with a hand drawn portrait of Dylan, listed pall bearers, prayers, talks, and where to bring the flowers.
I have a feeling this is not the only lizard I will own...

Leaping Lizards...
I don't like pets. I don't want pets. But my kids are desperate for pets. So the other night when we went on a family hike (little walk really) Jacob and Alan caught a lizard. I approved his arrival on the condition that he lived and stayed outside ALL.THE.TIME. Dylan was very loved. The day after the lizard joined our family he went in a carrier to visit our cousin Andrew's lizard. After several hours my sister in law Lisa called frantic. Dylan has escaped and was loose in her house. I was horrified for her. To teach her son a lesson she made Jacob take their lizard, Alex home. Upon arriving home with Alex Jacob was horrified. He hated taking his cousins lizard and told me, "I broke Andrew's heart". Alex was placed outside (no lizards loose in this house). After an hour and a lot of tears from Lindsey we went out to check on our visitor (we could never keep him) he was gone. I was horrified. I had to call my sister in law and admit that we had now lost her lizard. She told me that her husband was up trying to catch a replacement lizard for Jacob. After all this drama Alan arrived home and I told him the whole long sorted story. He goes outside and immediately finds Alex the lizard barried deep in the sand in the cage! He was there all the time! Before I could call Lisa my phone rang, she had just found Dylan on top of a decorative thing of wheat. It took her some guts to catch him and get him contained without actually touching him (yuck). Both lizards are now safe and all owners are happy. No more visiting will be permitted and the no inside rule is firmer than ever.
