Photostory Friday- Fairies are not harmless!

These two little fairies are all sorts of trouble. Yesterday they painted themselves from head to toe with shampoo and conditioner in the shower, fully dressed. Thankfully the costume is washable. That was one of many disasters on my halloween eve. Sydney and croup, lost costumes. You can guess what kind of day yesterday was.

Before it seems like I only have twins... come back for the rest of halloween pictures tomorrow.

Wordy Wednesday- The Pumpkin Patch

It was way past time to run over to the pumpkin patch. All the bigger kids were in school so it was just me and the twins. We have been going to this little house with piles of pumpkins for years. I love the more natural feel of the place. Pumpkin patch pictures are my favorite photo op of the year. I love the bright fall colors and the orange and green everywhere. Don't let the sweaters fool you, it was a warm day. We took them off right after the pictures.

We even checked out the old dried up patch the pumpkins were grown in.
That is Sydney's I have too much sun face. Caught on film.

Moab...

Trip to Moab
-Road trip with family.
-Sick Sydney
-Creepy motel
-Lousy diner serves drinks in cans
-Alan dirt biking in early morning hours
-Beautiful one of a kind scenery
-Beautiful Arch.
-Sydney and more diarrhea issues (it just goes with hiking I guess).
-Sydney carried the entire 3.5 strenuous miles.
(according the guide, which we did not read, you should bring 2 quarts of water and plan for hard hike- we did neither).
-Blazing hot weather.
-Car stops on side of road for sick screaming Sydney on the way home.

Riding in style. Poor Alan really got a work out.
Cousins

Sounds fun? Well actually it was. Sometimes even when every thing isn't perfect it can end out fun. I learned my kids even Hailey could do a hike in the strenuous category (you know the one you might avoid with kids who are sick or when you don't bring water) It was a great adventure. Great memories.

Thanks to my sister in law and family for coming along.

Been Spinning...

This week has been busy. It has totally flown by. I have to apologize to my washer and dryer for ignoring them. I haven't touched laundry for a whole week! Not much else has been done from home as I have been gone every single day! Before I knew it Saturday arrived. Today we spent the day as a Family at a BYU game. Great day. Another day gone.

I was thinking about blogging today. Why do I love it so much? What do I love about reading others blogs?

Why I love blogging...Writing for me records things and expresses thoughts. I love comments, its like having a cheering squad for your life.

I love reading about all of you because I relate to your thoughts to your highs and especially your lows. I love knowing I am not alone. Other mothers have challenges. I love reading about your successes. What works, what doesn't. You sharing your talents. It's such a great world out there. I am so glad I have blogs to inspire and comfort me along this path.

Thank you for all your kind words to me. For all your inspiration.

Photo Story Friday -My breakfast date...

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Yesterday Jacob said he wasn't feeling well so he stayed home from school. We have had a lovely stomach bug going around so I took him seriously. Since Jacob wasn't acting too sick I had an appointment to get my badge at the hospital I decided he would tag along. Sometimes you have a moment without planning it and this day was one of those times. We headed up to the hospital to get my badge. Jacob was thrilled to see the hospital (its a new big one in my area). He loved seeing where I volunteer and hearing about it what I do. I volunteer in Parent Support at the NICU. In fact we have a Mom I am visiting now who is expecting Monoamniotic twin girls, like mine. It is so fulfilling and healing to be able to help people who are going through difficult times. After we got my badge fixed Jacob and I ate breakfast in the cafe that overlooks the mountains. As I was sitting there I was overwhelmed with how special it was to have one on one time with him. To talk freely to him and hear all his thoughts. He is such a openly loving child. It was really a treat to be with him. Oh and don't worry we did not visit any babies or sick people, wink.

The day turned sour for him when we got home and he found out staying home sick meant he could not play with friends. He told me it was the worst day ever except the part where he got to have breakfast with me with all the doctors. Oh well staying home from school can't be all fun. This year loosing him to first grade has tugged at my heart strings so much. I will have to create more dates like this.

Jacob wanted to try taking a picture. This is outside the Women's center. I like the perspective of him looking up to me. His point of view is different and it captures that.
Jacob enjoying his breakfast.
The view of my face is quite silly, but it was a good memory of us together.

Why we need a bunk bed and poop stories...

The twins can't go to sleep together. It's like an all night slumber party that never ends. So about a year go we began the bedtime swapping and its been a routine ever since. It works like this, one of the twins (they take turns) goes to sleep in Jacob's bottom bunk when they are both asleep I move them back together so they can wake together and so I can see when they get up (they walk past my room to get downstairs). A few times we have forgotten to switch them and having them sneak downstairs is not pleasant. Anyway, last night when I arrived home from Volunteering at the hospital I went to check on the girls they had been put back together and were sleeping in each others beds. After I fell asleep I heard crying. Sydney had crawled in bed with Hailey and Hailey wasn't happy. So I put Hailey back in her bed or tried to because when I did she squealed because it was wet. So Sydney wet Hailey's bed and then crawled in bed with Hailey (wet under wear and all). Needless to say Hailey was less than thrilled.

Later in the morning I had this conversation with Sydney:
Me- Why are you wearing different p.j's?
Sydney-Because of the poop?

Great. Two wet beds and poop somewhere. My life is glamorous.

Book Banter...

I thought I would start of today with a book review that is long overdue. I wanted to recommend a book called Thanks To My Mother by Schoschana Rabinovici . This book was written by Schoschana Rabinovici who lived through the holocaust. What a harrowing tale it was to read. While it is sad and heart wrenching to read it. I found myself thoroughly engulfed in her saga to stay alive in the worst of circumstances. I was amazed at her will to live and her Mother's ideas and protective nature. It also struck me that their were and are everyday hero's in the darkest of places. Meaning when life is terrible and in this case it was really terrible you still have a choice on how to act and behave. I highly recommend this book because I learned so much more about what life was like in concentration camps. I feel it was my duty to know and learn of their struggles so it would not be forgotten. I finished the book with such a big sense of appreciation and gratitude for my life and the simple freedoms I have everyday. To see life go from normal to that was totally shocking. It was a fast read (took only 3 days).

Yesterday my sisters and sister in law and I went out to breakfast. We were meeting to start our online book club (we named it book banter). We decided after spending many girls nights discussing The Twilight series and The Host we might as well make it official. We are using the Good Reads forum (which I really like) to read and review books. Our first book will be, The Moon Spinners by Mary Stewart. If you would like to join you can request us to add you. You won't be able to go on our girls night but you can join the discussion online. We would love to have you.

Holly,Diana, Laura and Lisa
Here is the picture we took for the book group. Totally cheesy I know. The mountain were so different from just nine days ago. The leaves had lost their bright colors and there was white stuff all over- snow. We all took our coats off for the picture and let's just say it was freezing. I am excited to have add a new element to our girls nights and read and discuss good books.

Photo story Friday- Scrapbooking weekend

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

A few weeks ago I spent the weekend at my Neighbors cabin. I began scrap booking as soon as I got there and stayed up till nearly 3am scrap booking. Even then I did not actually fall asleep till 5:20am. It was so much fun. We visited, snacked, worked and shared stuff. I love scrap booking but have felt bad that I had not been able to do it for almost a year. So I was a year and a half behind. I was able to get 11 pages done so that was a good jump start (some are pictured below-some are still unfinished).

Wordful wednesday- girls night out...

I am very lucky to have a husband who understands I need a night out. Weekly I can count on one night to get out and have a break. It's usually my sister in law Lisa, and my two sisters Holly and Diana. We do a variety of things but it always includes dinner and a movie. I seriously see movies almost once a week, crazy huh. We always DO very late movies so we have much time out as possible.

This past week Alan has been out of town (on a cruise vacation) and I have been home doing all the cooking, cleaning, driving, doctoring, and some fighting with my kids alone. I could never be a single Mom. I also missed getting any sort of break so here's to weekly girls night out. It just makes life SO much better. Thank you Alan for this break! I love you!

Here are pics from last week (my little sis was missing)

Here is a picture from his cruise. We believe in equal time around here so I see a girls vacation coming on soon!

They dressed up in the funniest cruise gear they could find ( I can barely recognize a few). This is a group of Alan's best friends who he grew up with. Married w/ kids they have all remained friends. Believe me I am glad I wasn't there.

Fighting a good fight...

I mentioned in my birthday post that I had my house clean and the laundry done. These scenerio happens too rarely. Like months apart. So now its all clean I feel myself fighting to keep in clean. To stay on top of it all. The very first night of my clean bathroom I discovered the twins locked in the bathroom, "going potty". I nearly broke down the door to find, five paper cups filled with Mr. Bubble and being filled with water and hot pink on my new white carpets. Next day it was the twins and bathroom again and the a bar of soap being wet and wiped all over the bathroom. Then there is just the basic fights. Doing laundry like mad to make the baskets not be full again. The floor that was mopped covered in rain wet foot prints. The morning cereal that ends up in every room of my house. Rinsing the bathtub and wiping it out after baths. Wiping everything with lysol wipes constantly. The toothpaste that is stuck getting unstuck nightly. A wet bed. Am I really doing myself any favors here trying to keep it clean or am I just making myself more mad, you decide?
