Started with repaving of our road. If you wanted to drive your car that day you had to get your car out by 7am. I opted out on that one. Who needs to drive when one can walk with four kids, right? It was also the only day we sun actual sunshine last week. My house needed a lot of attention anyway so we spent it cleaning and doing chores...You see that 25 mile an hour speed limit sign? Yeah apparently its invisible to all. No one ever seems to follow it, even with my four little children on the side walk.
The twins room was a hazard. Even they were complaining. It took most of my day. I could do seperate post about their room. How I clean it, how they wake up before the sun and destroy it. How I clean it again and then they destroy it. Then I go on strike and won't clean it. Then it gets like this. We are all unhappy. I give in and clean it. Then Hailey always declares that she will never ever let it get messy like that again. Until the next morning before the sun, it does. It's just so fun to empty all the drawers, and toys and things. EVERY SINGLE DAY!
The kids have chore lists this summer. I declare its more work than ever for me. But its for the good, its for the good, right? I did manage to entertain the twins with vacuuming the baseboards for the better part of an hour. Which made the house stay picked up for one hour longer that day. This is the lunch you might have if you are out of food. Can't go to the grocery store because the thought of going with kids is very scary. Don't worry I went on Monday. Oh and Egg Salad is delicious to my kids so it was a real treat. While making lunch I received a phone call I was waiting four yrs for, My sister in law, had a clean scan and was declared officially Cancer free. I cried tears of joy in all the egg salad.
I was so tired by days end. Which is beginning to be the norm of all my summer days. Alan came home and declared he wanted to do something fun. So I sent Jacob along with him golfing. Apparently driving a golf cart and helping your Dad golf is like going to heaven.
When summer began Alan declared to the kids "no more bed times". After spending just one day home with the kids, with not one single break for myself, I quickly put my foot down on that one. Bed times were negotiated in my contract.

I love Alan declaring no bed time! What was he thinking? He was not thinking about who that would drive crazy! Matt does silly things like that occasionally and I have to step in and fix it again!
The best part about golfing for me is driving the cart, too.
I'm so glad to hear your SIL is cancer free.
It's amazing the messes kids can and do make. I hear you.
I'm still trying to catch up on laundry after have 7 house guests all last week.
So glad to know that my kids rooms aren't the only ones that become that bad! And I won't tell you how long it took the four of us to clean my room . . . .
Very good news about your SIL!!! YAY
That's awesome news about your SIL!! And I love the messy room pic, now I don't feel alone about the one I posted on my blog of my boys room. It's amazing how fast they can destroy a perfectly clean and organized room I tell ya.
:)Rachel
Ps. I'm jealous of your bread. I love that stuff!!
If you ever figure out the trick to keeping a kids room clean let me know. We seem to have the same problem there. Maybe when the weather is better the mess will be better too. That is what I am hoping.
I am also finding this summer that the food is not staying in the cupboards as long, and I can't figure it out. We are on our 3rd loaf of bread this week and it is only Wednesday.
I am so happy that Lisa is cancer free. That is so awsome!
I'm debating a chore list-- I know it is good, but man I just like to get things done. I need to though hu? Bummer. And haha--- I too avoid going to the store despite eating poor man food some days in fear of shopping with the kids. What is wrong with us?
Summer is KILLING ME.
♥ Congratulations to your SIL. That's wonderful news!
It always amazes me how fast they can destroy a room/house also. The chores are worth it!!! :)
I hear you on the grocery shopping with kids thing... Not my favorite thing to do either!
HALLELUJAH! on the clean scan! YAY! that is super exciting! and WHEW huge sigh of relief!
cleaning. ugh, it's never ending. i have to tackle kids rooms and basement. again. and seriously dread it. but i'm thinking if i bribe them all with a massive sleep over the will willingly help. i can hope anyway.
my kids keep telling me they don't have a bedtime because it's summer. i said they could stay up all they want as long as i don't see or hear from them after 8:00. hide out, read, watch TV, just don't talk to me, or bug me. or want food.
UGH!
I have also been out of food at my house as the grocery store is the last place I want to go this summer with ALL the kids... I may have to break down and go soon:( Love this post it had me laughing!
Yay!!!! For the cancer-free, and the egg salad!! Seriously, so awesome.
Boo, for self-combusting kids' rooms (I have one of those at my house too),no bedtimes....and repaving days. Nothing like feeling trapped.
That is wonderful news about your SIL. You need a girl's night out to celebrate this awesome news. Of course, after she has a wild date with her hubby and one with her kids!
I am glad to see that all 4 year old little girls can destroy rooms like that. ;) I find myself thinking my kids have too much stuff everytime I am picking it off the floor.
Hang in there! Summer will be over before you know it. Enjoy a chilled Diet Coke with Lime and all will be a little sweeter!
I am glad I am not alone on a messy house at times. I love the lunch you made. I
