I looked out the window this morning to be greeted by snow. Not just snow, it was actively snowing again. Let me just review the last week of my snow experiences. I will spare you the weeks before that (because it was snowing then too). I am a California girl. I do not know how to drive in the snow and really have no interest in learning. So when it snows I stay tucked in. A couple weeks ago we had a whopper of a snow storm (like 16 inches) and it was beautiful and fun. School was out for MLK day and all was well. I don't mind snow so much on those days.

MLK day snow...
Fast forward to last monday. I am behind (as usual) and am putting finishing touches on Jacob's VIP poster. I finish it off and we head off to the gym. I know it is predicted to snow but since I have to drive carpool regardless I figure I might as well get to the gym first. I arrive at the gym with the wind howling but no snow. I work out for a little over an hour and when I leave its snowing, not a little either,
A lot! I cannot see the road, I barely make it up my hill. It is awful! The VIP is going to be an hour after school starts, which stinks because its only going to get worse. SO I pick up carpool and we somehow make it the school (remember I do not drive in snow). I get there and the teacher suggests we do the VIP now. So I frantically call the Grandparents and Alan to inform them of the change. Alan is in a meeting and my mom is just as scared of snow as me and cannot come. The other grandparents arrive and tell me it was a terrible drive. I am scheduled to volunteer in the classroom while my mom babysat the girls. Since it was snowing so hard I have no one to watch the girls. So I figure I just cannot stay. Apparently working in the classroom is not optional and she tells me to just keep the girls there. So I arrive at 12:30pm (the girls have no lunch because I was planning on going right home), get stuck staying for the VIP, then I stay and volunteer. We were there almost the entire class time. All the while the twins are destroying her classroom... they are in desks, crayons and they are tired, hungry and cranky too. When its over its almost time to get out of school and we head out. While I was in there it continued to snow and was even worse outside. I drive home in fear. As I arrive at my house and try to turn into the driveway I get stuck. Not just stuck a little, stuck a lot. Stuck out in the middle of the road. I spend ten minutes fearing someone won't see us and hit us, girls screaming, me outside freezing and shoveling to get the car free. Finally I get the car in the bottom of the driveway, barely out of the road. We abandon it and hike in the house. The girls seem distressed that we are leaving it out there. Oh well. Fast forward again to next Friday. Jacob has been given an award that he is invited to collect at 8:30am (he is afternoon kindergarten and doesn't go to school this early). So I wake up and get all four kids and myself dressed and ready for this occasion. I look out the window and as predicted it has snowed (is snowing) again. We are forced to battle the roads and the lack of parking to watch him receive the award. If you are wondering if Jacob's teacher has it out for me, you are not the only one (ha ha). Fast forward again... On Sundays we go to dinner to one of our parents each week. Since it was super bowl sunday Alan went around 2pm. I stayed home while the girls napped. Around 5pm I looked out the window to see heavy snow again. I called my mother in law and informed her that I was not going outside in that, not this time. We stayed home and I made the girls cookies. So you can imagine my happiness and joy when I woke up to even more snow and the fact that we are still having flurries.

The morning of the kindergarten award.

i guess we did send you all our snow!!! my girls have the same coats as your girls. so cozy warm! i guess we're supposed to get more snow here in the next couple days, too!
♥ I love your girls hats & scarves!!! So stinkin cute... I actually don't mind the snow driving or otherwise. But I did grow up in a town where it snowed quite a bit... A couple of weeks ago ago I gook ELiza for her shot and couldn't get up the hill to the doctors... That stunk especially having anohter car behind me and seeing it! But she didn't get up either so that made me feel better! :)
I'm feeling it with you, for sure. I DO NOT like driving, snow or no snow. We tend to hibernate when it's snowing too. I have always said I prefer cold weather to the summer heat, but after all this snow-I am ready for the dead heat of summer! It can't get here soon enough!
The girls look so sweet! I love all the photos. WOW snow though! I can't believe we haven't been hit with much, hardly any.
YIKES! I'm so glad that I just missed all of the snow. The view of your kids playing in the snow is wonderful, though!
The pictures are great! Can I just say I so feel you with all of this snow. We have gotten over 30 inches of snow in the past week.
To say I'm seriously tired of snow would be a serious understatment.
Love LOVE LOVE the pictures. Tired TIRED TIRED of the snow. Sigh.
I agree, the pictures are so cute! Even if the snow is a pain in the hiney.
I'm with you, sister -- I don't do snow and when it snows in San Antonio (read: ice), I stay off the streets! Hang in there...spring's around the corner!
Sorry about that! I was not thinking. Good luck on driving in snow!
I don't blame you Laura...as another Cali-girl...I am terrified to drive in snow as well!
I don't like driving in it, but I do love snow. If I have to freeze all winter, I want lots of snow to look at! The kids look like they are having MUCH fun....Vivi has been dying to play in the snow, but all three of the kiddos are sick.
wow, sounds like we are having the same winter! i don't mind driving in it anymore, but on the really bad days i saty home. the pictures are adorable though! i think the teacher has it out for you too :)
I cannot believe school doesn't close there when it snows like that!!! This town would be locked up tight if we got that much snow!! Bri and I have been wishing for a snow day but I just don't think we are going to get one this winter!! Send some our way!! LOL!!
As a former Chicagoian I am jealous of your snow. It was over 70 degrees in DC and that just does not seem right for February. I loved looking at your snow pictures.
I like snow but am SO SICK of it here. It keeps snowing with no sign of stopping. Freaking Groundhog needs to be shot. I want warm weather!
Okay I am now stepping down off my soapbox.
;)Rachel
What a perfect post to read about today. We have been stuck in our house with the entire city shut down for over 24 hrs now. 12-18 inches of snow since 3 yesterday and it is has not stopped. UGH. It is so wonderful to look at though!
cute pix!!
I'm with you California girl...I don;t know the first thing about driving in the snow except for staying out of it! Can't wait for spring:)The kids did look like they had a blast playing in it.
I am so over this winter - it seems to be the longest one we have had in awhile. We had snow last week (and snow day) then we had weird, intense fog over the weekend (we actually got stranded somewhere because we couldn't see to drive home) then we had two severe thunderstorms Mon/Tues. and today it was snowing again!
My three men are all sick with bronchitis so I am totally staying home (except for doctor trips, pharmacy trips, and school pick ups...)
snow is usually alot of fun for kids, but not for parents!! Those are great pics of your kids playing!
When the weather man predicts snow I have started thinking to myself "I hope it starts snowing early enough and bad enough that school gets cancelled because I hate going out in it. But I have decided that they never cancel school here. These are really great pictures. Your kids look cute as always.
Isn't it overwhelming. It keeps snowing here. Snowing again right now. My daughter was "Marvelous Me" at her school. The whole poster thing was overwhelming to me. However, thought I'd let you know: Becky Higgins is offering the school kits again. Don't know when, but I think soon. Check her blog. (Maybe you've done so already). At least you won't be out in the cold on those. Great blog.
Very cute pictures. I love to see kids all bundled up like that! I am with you- driving in the snow stinks! I can't wait for Spring!
I am such a Cali girl. I lived up in the mountains for one year in Big Bear. I hated the snow. Putting chains on daily was no fun at all.
Your pics are too cute tho! Looks like they had a blast.
