This year I have all my Christmas Shopping done early. I have several projects to make but the shopping part is mostly done. My kids are getting one big present so that eased the shopping somewhat. Anyway, I got to thinking about toys that have been successes and toys that aren't so I thought I would share what toys have been hits here...
Leapster
This one has been a favorite in our house. We got one for Lindsey around age 5 and she is just outgrown it now at 9. Jacob loves his too. I think its best for ages 4-7. It is educational and fun.
Pop up tents
Barbie's and Disney princess
Interactive toys...
Dress up's
Kitchen
Kitchen food
Grocery cart
Doll Stroller
Trucks to dig outside
Scooters
Power wheels
Bikes
Sports equipment (basketballs, soccer ball)
Sleeping bags
Baby dolls
Webkinz
Digital Camera's
Art supplies
Disney movies
My little Pony (all forms)
I'll add more if I think them.
What are your kids favorites? You know the toys that get played with year after year. Which toys have bombed?

Love it! My neighbor just gave Sammy a Leapster and all 3 of the little ones love it. Brian wanted to get them for the girls but I think they are still a bit young. There is no stopping daddy at the toy store though.
The girls lke their new doll house. They had another smaller on that they played with all the time. I think they may like the old one a bit better because the pieces are bigger as are the people. Maybe this new one just takes some getting used to.
Yay for getting your shopping done early!
Great idea! My kids have the Vsmile handheld game-much like the leapster- and have always loved it!
One that definitely bombed last year was the Squakers McCaw. You know that big, expensive, talking parrot? My kids HAD to have it, so Grandma got it for them. They have hardly looked at it...
♥ Great list! My kids have always loved polly pockets although the little ones loose them faster than I want. But Emma has always done really well with them since maybe 4 or 5...
Great list!
thanks for the great ideas!
See now my daughter loves her DS more then her Leapster...odd, huh?
Pretty much everything in our house gets played with...we bought her a Spike this year...we'll see how that goes over.
I just realized that I have not bought even one Christmas present yet. I am in big trouble.
You rock.
Ok my kids are still little but this year I ordered Noddy dolls (make way for Noddy on sprout) from New Zealand. They are also getting a tickle me elmo and a race car track.
I really really want to get them the Giddy Up and Go Pony. I am to cheap to purchase it right now but I may break down and get it if I find it on sale.
Last year I bought my son one of those rugs that have a picture of a town on them with streets and a gas station, etc... and you play with Matchbox cars on it. He still plays with it, so its a hit. It was only $10, so it was a great buy. A big flop was TJ Bearytale; the teddy bear that tells bedtime stories. My mom bought it for Luke last year. I should have returned it, but I kept it thinking the girls might eventually like it, but they don't. No interest whatsoever.
I'm so glad to hear the Leapster is a hit since I was thinking to get one for Luke this Christmas. He loves computer games.
great list! The kitchen/shopping carts are huge here also. Same with the tents and tunnels. Maybe next year we will get the Leapster.
You are so organized!! I better get a move on...we are all about ego and Webkinz around here right now.
Thanks so much for the tips. I was wanting to do a post about this myself-you beat me to it!
I was thinking of getting a pop up tent this year (glad you've had success with that) and the Star Station. Heard anything on that yet?
My girls have loved My Little Ponies, the Princess Polly Pocket dolls, Baby dolls with strollers and car/train sets too.
They also both love chapstick (and anything dress-up/jewlery) (A great cheap gift!)
One of my personal favs as a mom is the color wonder markers and finger paints. (pricier but worth it to not have to worry about my carpet, walls, or clothes!)
Fischer Price Little People have been big at our house, especially the house, and bus and airplane. I usually buy them at 2nd hand stores if they have all the pieces.
Bath Crayons are a hit.
I have not been impressed with Leapfrogs video games for kids. The graphics are so "atari" and it has been hard for Lauren to use it. The Leapster seems to have better graphics and I like that it is portable.
