Tuesday's Tip...

Todays tip will take your participation in my comments.

I love Costco.
I love that the inventory is constantly changing and that you can always find something new (until my item is gone to not return).
I love shopping and getting a cheap lunch after too.
I love two shopping seats in the shopping carts.
I love sampling food before I buy a years worth of it (lol).

I used to go to Costco every week for baby formula. It has slowed down and now I only go 1 to 2 times a month. Anyway, there a few things I love to get there. So I wanted to see what yours were as some of mine were found through others recommending them.

I love the
Chopped broccoli in the bag for $3.99. It saves time.
Tillamook sliced cheese. Cheddar and Swiss (white cheese has fewer calories)
Bananas
Carrots
Fugi apples
Eggo waffles
Posada Chimichangas (for Alan and the kids)
Philly cheese steaks for Alan.
Lasagna (great dinner for my girls night).
String cheese
wheat thins
Paper plates
Paper cups

These are just the basics I get every time and I am sure I am missing a few. So what are yours? What is your costco list like? If your not near Costco share what you love to get at your store too.

The one bad thing about Costco is that I cannot get out of that store without dropping $100 at least! Oh and yeah I know that you can gets things for less elsewhere but I am all about one stop shopping. Battling the girls at other stores is just not worth it to me. Anyway post away. I love new ideas, especially dinner ones.

Sigh... I miss Costco.. The last time I stepped foot in one was over a year ago maybe more.
Plus the nearest one to me is 2 hrs away. And I have to drag my mom who has a card with me. I would love some great bargains right now.

I don't shop at Costco anymore, I just use Market Day. I can buy in bulk and the school gets dollars donated to the school. Can't beat that with a stick!!

I love Costco too. When we lived in Montana we shopped there all the time. It is hard,if not impossible to get out of there without spending $100.

we have let our costco membership lapse because it is 40 minutes from our house. I wish I still had it especially now that all 4 kids eat like animals! I could really use the bulk! Loved the produce for sure and the snacks!

We love Costco! We get...

Milk and cheese
Meats-no one beats Costco meat!
All laundry/cleaning supplies
Diapers and WIPES
Frozen fish (we love fish)
Almost all toiletries (Dove soap, toilet paper, toothpaste...)
Mac n Cheese (counts as food supply, doesn't it?)
Cereal
Books and movies

Sorry, not many dinner ideas, I think I just get staples and make my own meals.

I love their pharmacy. (Side note: if you go to the same one I go to, don't get the pharmacist started on Infant tylenol-he LOOOOOVVVEEEES it!)

Laura said...

Thanks Shelby! I never use the pharmacy but now I know I could. Another thing to make Costco a one stop shop. I do mostly make our meals too but I like having stuff on hand for Alan to make for his lunch's or my girls night. I do not cook on girls night, that would defeat the purpose of a break right?

I am still in awe that you have a obvious regular girl's night. How often? I need some amo to bring to the table with my hubby :)

LOVE Costco and we also have a SamsClub that is the same thing basically. We have memberships to both...probably defeats the purpose of bargain shopping.

I buy all our fruit there and lots of fresh veggies.
My girls eat so many blueberries it's unbelievable.
We get diapers & wipes there.
Flank steaks...Love them. I marinate in the Jack Daniels sauce in a bag and BBQ. So good and easy.
We get the pot stickers, taquitos, organic pizza's, eggos, mac n cheese, canned stewed italian tomatoes that I make into spaghetti sauce, raviolis and juice.

I can give you a super easy recipe for the spaghetti sauce if you'd like. Everyone loves it.

We also can't get outta there under 100$ and its even worse if the hubby goes :)

I haven't been to a costco forever. The last time was with my in-laws! We don't have one around here or anywhere close by. When we did have a membershipe over 7 years ago I always bought milk there because it was so much cheaper and then sometimes fruit if it was cheap enough! Sometimes toilet paper as well...

I am a Costco fan. My staples at Costco are:
Milk, cheese, butter, eggo waffles, grandma sycamores honey grain bread, diapers and whipes, toilet paper, dino chicken nuggets, frozen corn (if you like corn this is some of the best frozen), frozen peas, lunch meat, fruit snacks, gogurts, string cheese, soap, lysol wipes, glue sticks, contact lenses, and anything else that looks good or fun. My kids love to get a churro so I always have to have a few dollars in my pocket.

Mike and Shelby said...

OH, Hillary...you are SOOO right! They do have the best sweet, crisp corn!

And, Laura, they do have good, quick and easy lunch and dinners for husbands to make! (Great Lasagna, lunch meat, cheese trays...I've gotten the pot pies too-that's something Mike can make on his own and my girls love them) Of course you shouldn't cook on your girls night! :) It's great that you do that regularly!

Costco is my friend too. We buy many of the same things:
Tillamook sliced cheese. Cheddar and Swiss (white cheese has fewer calories)
Bananas
Fugi apples
Eggo waffles
Philly cheese steaks for Alan. I used to buy these for Jeff, too.
String cheese
I also always get:
juice
butter
wipes
diapers
animal crackers

Hope's school does Market Day. I order online and then pick up all my goodies from the school. They drop once a month.

There food is quite good, somewhat pricey but it helps her school, too. So that's good!!

Laura said...

Lysol wipes are also very important!

Another tip (which I like to keep secret) you can pay for your food (snack bar) at the register! Then you just take your receipt over and do not have to wait in line. Shhh! It's so great because you do not have to have cash!

We only have Sam's but I shop there all the time. I buy ALL our fresh fruit and veggies there. Plus, our frozen veggies. Bread, milk, cheese sticks, herbs and spices, pancake mix, eggs, chicken, ground beef, etc... Mostly all the fresh and frozen things because they have the best prices. All boxed foods, I can get at Target for little to no cost with coupons and sales.

Oooh! Costco is my friend! I love their wipes (the ones in the soft-sided, disposable packages), the big bags of frozen spinach-and-cheese raviolis, big packages of paper towels (so un-PC, I know), wine, beer, anything for a pot-luck, etc.

Such a good tip for the snack bar. I had no idea! Thanks!

We have a Sams. We get the Dino Nuggets, canned green beans, large cans of peaches/pears, milk, cheese, eggs, frozen chicken breasts/salmon, paper towels, tp, laundry det., Cascade drop-ins, dog food, diapers/wipes, and MANY other random items - especially if my husband goes alone!! They also have great pies -about as cheap as you can make one.

I love all those things about Cosco too. I don't shop there all the time, but when I do I can't get of that store!!

Hey - Thanks for the prayers for our baby - we appreciate it! See you soon. Kellan

Well Costco is 3 hours away, but when I get there we get things like assorted muffins {or just the chocolate ones}, jelly bellies, nutella, goldfish crackers and animal crackers.

I loooove Costco, but husband goes to "help"...so I don't get to check out the inventory. We always buy:
Organic milk, eggs, butter, meat, beer, coke, tillamook block of cheese, goldfish, and that's about it. Other items we don't buy as often are laundry soap, which is eco-friendly(yea!!) and of course diapers and paper goods, to balance out the attempt at being more eco-friendly.
Can you tell a man is in charge of the list? Not that I'm complaining...the two times I've tried to go since the twins were born I've nearly had a nervous breakdown it was so overwhelming to me.

We just discovered Costco because before the girls we were carless city folks. It is so much fun and you feel so good when you walk out with a bargain.

I am such a Costco fan. I usually make a trip once a week to stock up on milk, cheese, and fruit. One of my favorite things that they have is the organic Nature's Path Granola cereal with pumpkin and flax seed. Seriously delicious. I have been eating it everyday for breakfast for months! I also like their brocoli salad in a bag and they used to sell Van's frozen mini waffles that my girls loved. I get so sad when they stop selling my faves. My girls love their Pub mix that they have too. I'm sure I can think of more....
