Tuesday's Tip...

Know your limits!

I have been going the gym for almost a year and I consider myself in o.k. shape. So I asked around and went to my first class*. I was told it was a hard level but that did not worry me. I have been working out and weight lifting I was fine.

*I probably should not have done everything they did my very first time.
*I probably should not have used some of the heaviest weights.
*When my body told me it could not do more... I should have stopped.
*I should have skipped the 30 min cardio work out I added at the end.
*It should have worried me that I was hurting right after the work out- that my legs were shaking.
*It should have been a big warning sign when I noticed that lifting my glass to my mouth seemed hard, my hands were shaking like crazy.

The class works out every muscle in your body. So can you guess how I am feeling today? I can barley walk... seriously barley walk. The kids are running circles around me and I can do nothing about it. I feel like a total cripple and its so silly.

On a good note I do love this class and I will go back but I have learned a very valuable thing, know your limits. What was I thinking?! A year at the gym and I have NEVER damaged myself like this. UGH!

*24LIFT™:
One of our most popular classes, this highly efficient, full-body 24 Hour Fitness signature workout utilizes barbells and hand weights to strengthen and sculpt all muscle groups.

Sounds like how I felt after I went snow boarding for the first time. Hope you feel better tomorrow. Not much worse than tired, sore muscles.

I know that feeling. It's so sad that I haven't had it in a while. I should really step it up.

I responded with some ideas for your Christmas costumes on my blog.

They always say the second day is worse... and they are right. Any tips on getting this gone would be great! I did work out yesterday because the trainer said mild cardio would help stretch it out, I followed it with a soak in the hot tub. Still the same though or even worse really.

ouch! but good for you going again the day after!

about the thyroid cancer.you are the best kind of friend being supportive and caring what happens like the lame Dr.s and the setbacks. it is emotionally so hard to deal with when you are at the point ready for testing and then it doesn't happen or you need radiation, and when no one else understands what you are going through or acts like they care it is extra hard. my in-laws are under the delusion i am cured because a tech said i had a clear ultrasound
they are just super quick to right it off, and don't understand it still effects my daily life. more when it is time for testing than not. your sister-in-law/best friend is super lucky to have you!

No pain no gain - I've never believed that! Good for you for getting to the gym and having a reason for sore muscles! I'm sore for no reason...oh I did shovel some snow yesterday. I guess that counts! Angie's snowboarding comment brought back horrible pain memories for me. That was not a fun experience for me :) I was forced by my hubbie :) Hope you are painfree soon.

All I have to say is good for you for making it to the gym and braving a class. I haven't elevated my heart rate past resting in months now - sad I know. Pain is beauty don't forget!
