PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

I mentioned before how busy we have been this summer. We tend to go go go and then come home for the twins to nap. Quite often lately I will stumble upon Lindsey or Jacob
conked out too. Just too much fun and summer I guess. Last night he was sent to time out and I found him sound asleep he stayed asleep all night. POOR.TIRED.BOY

Thursdays thirteen...

I realized in reading over my blog that I rarely post about my husband Alan. Most of my blog is dedicated to my children and my own thoughts. Which is normal because its my blog but still... since he is the most important person in my life. I think I better take a moment to talk about him and share him with you.

Thirteen things about Alan
1-makes friends easy and would go out of his way to help anyone.
2-Tells the best stories (he has a million crazy things he did growing up most dangerous).
3-Is an amazing Dad always supporting them in their activities and plays with them every minute he is home.
4-Loves politics and is very well educated on current events. My kids always refer to his shows as the "daddy news".
5-Is a heavy sleeper which works out nicely because I like to stay up late watching a strobe light in our room (oh thats the t.v).
6-Is a very hard worker.
7-Is very handy around the house. It always amazes me how he can figure out how to fix something that I would have no clue how to do. He wires lights, builds rooms in our basement, put in our wood floor. All is his spare time. Oh wait... he never has any of that.
8-Love motorcycles and plans to teach Jacob all about that (ahh).
9-Is very dedicated to our church. Alan spends so much time at church it really is a great example to me. He gets up every single Sunday at 6:30am for meetings and does not get home till after 2pm (if he's lucky). He often has mid week meetings for church too.
10-He supports me. Even when he is tired or stressed he takes the kids once a week. He encourages me to help others and do my volunteering. Even when I am often typing away on the computer while he is trying watch t.v or out at night instead of home with him and the kids.
11-He always is willing to help my his/my parents out, my Grandparents (when they were here), my siblings. He has made friends with them as well.
12- He has a good sense of humor and knows how to laugh (something I am not great at).
13-He is always trying to be a better person. To try harder. I need to do that more too.

I could go on but this is thursday's thirteen. Alan I want you to know how much I love and appreciate you. I am so proud of you. We have missed you so much this last week.

Water Entries...

We Swim a lot (thus the green hair issue). At the beginning of the summer the twins were not sure they even wanted to float with the floaties without mommy or daddy hanging on. As you can see thats a thing of the past. They are all over the pool and love to put their faces under water. Jacob and Lindsey are doing so well we are looking into swim team. Lindsey's biggest fear was diving. Something about going in head first sent her into a panic. I am so proud to say she seems to have overcome that fear! We are so lucky because Grandma and Grandpa have a pool.

Nothing quite like a good book...

I have recently finished several good books (either listened on my ipod or read).

I already raved about Twilight here and then went on to read New Moon and Eclipse. I liked Twilight so much I reread it (partly because I felt I missed a lot listening in my ipod- and I did). Breaking Dawn will be out next week and I can't wait. I highly recommend these as good easy reads. Totally fun.

A thousand splendid suns. This is a really wonderful book. While a lot of it is a little hard to read (meaning it was harrowing). I found it so interesting and educational. I really felt I finished the book and knew a lot more about another place in the world. My perspective on life had changed.

The Host. This book is another book by the author of Twilight. I wasn't sure at first if I could like it as it seemed to have a very science fiction plot. I am here to tell you that the girl that hates Star Wars and Star Trek (hiding now) loved this book. I liked it almost as much as Twilight. If not for different reasons. Wonderful read. Stephenie Meyer has such an amazing imagination. Her descriptions and stories are truly spellbinding. I highly recommend this one.

The Kite Runner (by the same author as A Thousand Splendid suns). This book like his other book is truly heart breaking and amazing at the same time. Since some of the book was set in California where I grew up I felt I could imagine being there and seeing what they were experiencing. It really changed my whole perspective on so many things. I had no idea what was going on as I was growing up in California and my only worries were going the mall and sleeping late. I feel lucky to have read this book and realized, even if only in a small part, how very blessed my life has been. The world can be a very different place than the happy experiences I have been dealt.

Sadly when I listen or read I find myself always anxious to finish a book to know the end but dreading it to be over. It's hard for me to finish a great book and then get into another. Anyone else have that problem?

I also have to give a shout out to the local library. If you haven't taken advantage of your library lately you are missing out. I love my ability to go online and search for book, put them on hold and then wait for an email saying its in. When my book arrives I just go to a shelf, pick it up. I also receive emails reminding me of its due date. The Electronic world makes this so much easier. It makes me so happy to get so many books on cd (for my ipod) and to read for free. What a wonderful resource this is.

Tuesday's Tip...

When I bake I could not live without this:

It makes for quick clean up and it just cooks cookies better. I highly recommend it. I do not mean to give a false impression, I do not bake all the time! I don't have the self discipline to not eat everything!

You know you want to (all you lurkers (family friends) come on out and play.

Memory Game:
1. Add a comment to my blog by leaving a memory that you and I experienced together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little, or A LOT. All you have to do, is simply, remember. If you are a blog reader you can post a memory of a post etc...

Photo Story Friday...

30 weeks pregnant with the twins The picture above is one of only two or three pictures of me pregnant with the twins. I admit to not taking any pictures out of fear. I did not want a reminder of my pregnancy if I lost my girls. You can read more about monoamniotic twins and why this was such a risk here http://our-munchkins.blogspot.com/2008/01/monoamniotic-twins-explanation.html. When I was pregnant with my twins inpatient monitoring was not done. I went daily to the hospital while the girls were monitored for several hours. We watched for signs of trouble and prayed to see a pattern before it was too late. If we saw an issue my doctor would have admitted me for more constant testing. Leaving the hospital was always horrible for me. I always prayed to know if we were missing something. The hours in between each visit were not peaceful. I lived in constant fear that I would loose one or both girls. This was a very real threat. Every day when they put the ultrasound wand on my stomach I waited in agony till I saw they were okay. This picture was taken on a very big celebration. When I first began monitoring the girls (at about 25 weeks Viability) we knew we could delivery at any time. I received steriod shots for that very real possibility. We toured the Newborn ICU and we well versed in the risks of micro preemies. The doctors told us that 30 weeks was a very important milestone for a preemie. That 30 weekers do very well. So from that point on I just wanted to get 30 weeks out of my girls. Everyday that passed at first made 30 weeks seem impossible. But days turned into weeks and all the little issues seem to keep us hanging on. When I hit 30 weeks we were thrilled. So the picture above ( one of the only pictures I have) we went to a very expensive restaurant and celebrated the girls making it to 30 weeks. It was a short lived celebration because while I thought I would relax making to 30 week I did not. The stress of knowing they could live if delivered was overwhelming. I just wanted it to be over. I wanted them delivered safe. The last two weeks waiting for their safe delivery were intense and terrible.

Two and half years later we returned to the same restaurant and celebrated two healthy wonderful little girls.

Thursday's Thirteen

Thirteen reasons why our summer has been anything but lazy.
1-Swim lessons and free swimming from 10am-1:30pm.

2-Water parks

3-Arts in the park. A program my bigger kids go two twice a week from 10-12pm. It's actually very nice.
4-Jet Skiing with twins? Enough said?

5-Church meetings and activities to plan and hold.
6-Four kids home ALL.THE.TIME.
7-Fitting in the gym, girls nights, and hospital volunteering.
8-Later bedtimes and early risers.
9-More places to go as a family (Park City)
10-Pool towels to wash, swimsuits to wash, two outfits per child almost everyday.
11-Green hair. Any tips? Baths needed every single night (not always given).
12-Summer Movies
13- House that needs cleaning (desperately) even though we never seem to be home.

I just need a day to just be home with deadlines gone.

A tag...

Ten things I can't live without tag...

I was tagged a little while ago. So here goes. I could write my kids, my husband, my belief in God. Trust me those are certainly the top three but since this is just for fun I am going for totally frivolous stuff.
1- The gym and my ipod (packaged deal).
2- My car.
3- My Tivo.
4- Computer.
5- My wireless headphones. You can watch t.v at night without noise.
6- Diet Coke.
7- Nights out.
8- Cordless phones.
9- Designer Jeans.
10- and because its summer- sunglasses and sunscreen.

Tag you are all it. So share all your favorites on your blog too.

Virtual reality...

So summer's here and the kids are busy fighting playing. Their latest fights are always about virtual games. Yesterday it was Lindsey decorating Jacob's Build a Bear room black with pink hearts. Totally rad for her but Jacob was NOT happy. The other day Jacob had a friend over (who shall remain nameless). This kid was totally going nuts to use my computer and saying nuts puts it mildly. I was being threatened by a 6 yr old because his webkinz pet needed care. Seriously?

So I set limits. My kids are in love with...
Webkinz
Pirates online
and Build a bear world.

The details of the day...

Every fourth of July the kids and I are up early to go to a parade at Grandma's and Grandpa's house. There is lots of fun and candy. After the parade we spend the day playing with friends. We later returned for a bbq and fireworks.

This year our group was missing two important people. On Lindsey's birthday we gave her tickets to see Miley Cirus at the Stadium of fire. So Alan and Lindsey headed of for that after they enjoyed the meal with us. It was a great night full of family and fun. The kids, all of them, were tired by the end of that big day.

Cleaning cleaning...

Do you ever clean your bathrooms and not want anyone to use them? Or at least wish you could make them use only one of them? I see toothpaste and cringe. How about not wanting anyone to be on the wood floor at all even when its dry and done? It's like this for a day or so and then I just give up. How about you?

Tonight its clean, the messers are in bed. I guess for 12 hours the furniture (thanks Rachel for that one) and me will know it was nice. By the time I wake up their will likely toothpaste on the sink, cereal on the floors. You know how it goes right?

Happy Fourth!

Every Fourth of July I have always dressed the kids up in patriotic clothing. I think it started when I received a baby dress for Lindsey from an Aunt. Since then I have always done it. Like any thing really worthwhile, getting the picture isn't very easy.

I'll share more later. Hope you all have a wonderful day!
