To all of you out there with word verification on your blog. Do you have it there because you have been hit with tons of spam comments? I have only ever had one, yes one. Just wondering because I hate it, hate it. I must be challenged but every time I do it I have to enter then reenter and I always wonder what happens if I pick handicapped. Do I get easier to read ones? Am I the one who hates it. I mean sometimes I just get so lazy I don't want to comment. I understand privacy and I am all for it. I understand not allowing people to post without logging in etc.. I just figured the only purpose of this feature was to stop spam. Maybe I am just lucky and will soon (after this post) be hit with spam and be forced to add this feature too. Hmm.
Just putting this out there.

I know what you mean- I hate that and I hate private ones (even though mine is) because it seems to be so much more work to type in email and password! I guess I'm getting lazy in my old age.
Yeah I guess this post really shows my laziness huh or stupidity? Ha ha.
I've only had one spam comment so far. I used to have the word veryi but I dropped it when I realized what a pain it was for me to post on other blogs and didn't want to do that to my readers.
Of course if I started to gt more spam I would put it back up in a second.
I want to take mine off too. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. It drives me crazy too!
It bugs me too...I've only had 1 spam comment also.
I've had a bunch of spam comments probably (8 ever). but I'd way rather not have to do that step. sometimes they are just hard to read. and i have to do it over and over again. AND i hate really the long verification letters.
you can do the owner comment moderation, but i love to see my comment immediately after i post it. then you don't have to post spam ones or mean ones.my issue would be approving all the comments could take a while.
it is interesting to know why people have certain things though. like Ashley at I believe in miracles, has code names for her kids since they are adopted from foster care. and she doesn't want people to accidentally give out her kids real names. so she does moderation. and Laurie at executive homemaker had it for a long time because of a crude comment from one post. so she did the moderation too.

All things I wanted to know. Honestly if I was getting spam I would add it too. I just wondered if I was the only not getting it.
Oh and I prefer the comment moderation option. That way if you are getting bad posts, spam or what not you can just delete them before they go on. I did know about all of these.
I used to get lots of spam, so I went to the moderation option, too. It's helpful, too, in that I can just ignore the purposefully goofy comments my husband likes to leave. :)
I have wondered why everyone has this too. I have only gotten one spam message and I always have to retype too! You are not alone.
I've only had 2 spam comments, and I'm not a fan of it, although since I can never keep my mouth shut I enter way more word verifications in a day than I'd like! :)

I too have trouble with the word veri thing, and sometimes just hit return to get a new set of letters if it's too long! I have had 2 spams and I just deleted them. Like CrazyMama, I love to see my comment pop right on! I understand all the reasons people put it on and I type it alot too like Angie!
Good question and you've gotten some great comments on it.
I took mine off and so far have not had any problems. Okay I'll be right back I have to go knock on some wood.
