When leaving for Yellowstone the forecast for May 21st was snow and freezing temperatures! It did not disappoint. It was VERY cold!
Old Faithful. Just taking this picture was painful and slippery!
Yellowstone lake looked like Antarctica (have I mentioned its been a really cold Spring)?
The hot pot’s smelled really bad. Last trip 2 years ago Sydney made herself sick. This year she did much better. It was stinky!
It was very slippery!
After this stop we had lunch. The snow finally stopped blowing and we went on a hike. Don’t let the blue skies fool you. The wind was bitter and it was SO cold!
We saw Boiling mud (above with Jacob) and other cool hot spots.
Us girls did great (although this was the first time I took my hood off the whole hike).
Later that night we had a great dinner at the lodge. The night was not uneventful. Hailey woke we my up with the croup and Jacob (sleeping in another room) threw up all over the place (poor Grandma and Grandpa). He wasn’t sick the next day so we never knew why that happened. I tried to blame the costco size box of tootsie pops and other junk Grandpa was handing out but we may never know. hee hee.
Grandma and Grandpa with the grandkids.
Even though the trip was really cold we had a great time and I know we won’t forget the unique experience!

I love Yellowstone. it is one of my all time favorite places. I wish we had taken the family there when it was still relatively close. Matt has never been there. I will have to correct that little problem!
I thought about you when the snow was falling at our house that weekend. I am glad you still had a good time even if it was a little chilly.
We love Yellowstone, and honestly, I'd prefer it cold to really really hot, in my opinion! Especially because the heat makes those mud pots even more stinky! :)
And, it almost seems you can't get through more than a week without SOMEONE getting sick, eh?
