Back to school...

School started yesterday. Somehow life keeps going on no matter how crazy everything is. The kids were excited to begin a new school year. The homework, activities, and sports make me nervous to add to the already sinking ship.

In the way of an update on my mother in law,
The surgery went well. The surgeon felt he was able to remove some infection and clear things that were causing pressure. He was not able to do some things that are needed because the risk of infecting other areas of the brain is dangerous. So there are likely two more surgeries in her future. Goals now would be to wake up and recover from surgery, and then show signs of infection improving enough to allow the other surgeries. She has been slow to wake up and has been having trouble talking. I stayed the night with her last night and I cannot believe how hard this all is. There is no end in sight for her yet.

Isn't back to school great? Your kids look pretty excited! Sometimes the routine CAN be overwhelming, especially for you right now with all your family has going on, by I find everyone does better with a planned schedule!

Glad the surgery went as well as possible, and here's hoping for the best case scenario all along the way! (hugs)

You are in my thoughts Laura. Sound like you are doing so much juggling right now with the kids and taking care of your family. Hang in there! Hope your mother in law is showing more signs of recovery today.

Everyone in Saratoga just hurts for all of you, Laura. And there are many, many prayers being said.

This is definitely an ordeal and then some. It's amazing, though, what a strong family (like yours) can do to support each other. I'm glad that so many of you live there now, so you can help and comfort Jan and each other. I'm sure it must be hard for John to be here in California.

Hugs to all. And continued prayers, too.

Oh, I am thinking about you and your family! I hope the recovery is still positive.

Your littles are just adorable (and getting not so little every day...tell them to stop growing and I'll try to tell mine the same thing!)!!!

We still have a prayer chain for your MIL. I can only imagine how hard all this must be with the back to school transition.
